WASREB and Lake Victoria North Review Transwasco’s Early Milestones

The Water Services Regulatory Board (Wasreb) and Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency held a crucial meeting with the Transwasco Board to review the water company's early progress since its establishment.

The Water Services Regulatory Board (Wasreb) and Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency met with the Board of Directors of Trans-Nzoia Water and Sewerage Company (Transwasco) to assess the company’s progress since its establishment on July 1, 2024. This meeting marks a critical review of Transwasco’s early achievements in delivering water and sewerage services to the residents of Trans Nzoia County.

Under the leadership of Mr. Chami Simiyu, the Transwasco board provided a detailed overview of the company’s progress, focusing on the implementation of new policies and operational strategies aimed at improving service delivery and efficiency. The presentation highlighted the initial outcomes of these measures and the steps taken to ensure reliable and quality water services for the community.

Wasreb used the opportunity to assess the impact of Transwasco’s efforts and offer insights into how the company can further enhance its operations. Discussions revolved around addressing emerging challenges and planning for future improvements to better serve the residents of the region.

“The early results are promising, but we recognize that continued dedication and innovation will be key to meeting our long-term goals,” said Mr. Simiyu during the review. The Transwasco team reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of service while optimizing its resources.

The review follows the establishment of Transwasco after the declustering of the former Nzoia Water Services Company (Nzowasco), which previously handled water and sewerage services for both Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties. This restructuring was aimed at creating more efficient, localized management of water services, focusing on the unique needs of Trans Nzoia County.

As Transwasco continues its journey, the company remains focused on its mission of providing reliable, high-quality water and sewerage services to its customers, backed by the guidance and oversight of regulatory bodies like Wasreb and regional development agencies. This milestone meeting signals the company’s commitment to continuous improvement as it grows into its role as a key service provider in the region.
