Trans Nzoia County Water and Sanitation Company Limited (TRANSWASCO), in collaboration with Smart People Africa (SPA), has successfully conducted a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system training program aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, improving service delivery, and enhancing staff capacity across the organization.

The multi-day training sessions brought together members of staff from various departments including Finance, Administration, Human Resources, Technical Services, Billing, Customer Relations, Revenue Collection, Procurement, Stores, Operations and Maintenance, Waste Water, and ICT. The sessions were held in different phases to ensure all departments received practical and specialized training tailored to their operational needs.

The ERP refresher training officially commenced with a focus on the ERP Billing System, bringing together key users from several operational sections. Participants were guided through practical and interactive sessions facilitated by SPA Consultant Ms. Kezzia Gatonye alongside Principal ICT Officer Mr. Peter Wasike. The training focused on improving billing accuracy, accountability, operational efficiency, and customer service delivery through technology-driven systems.

On the second day, Smart People Africa conducted a refresher course on the Pick Pay Billing System at Pazuri Hotel. The session covered critical operational areas including account opening, survey approvals, account updates, meter requests and replacements, meter collection, ground installation, meter reading tasks, invoicing, adjustments, and handling reading exceptions. Participants from departments such as Billing, Customer Relations, Revenue Collection, Procurement, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations actively engaged in the training and demonstrated a strong understanding of the system.

The third day of the training targeted staff from the Finance and Procurement departments. Facilitators from Smart People Africa guided participants through the key functions of the ERP system, focusing on improving coordination, data management, accuracy, and departmental efficiency. Practical demonstrations and discussions enabled staff to better understand how the system supports day-to-day finance and procurement operations.

As the training progressed, separate specialized sessions were conducted for the Technical Department. The technical team was equipped with advanced knowledge and practical skills to enhance field operations, technical reporting, and operational performance. The sessions were highly interactive, featuring presentations and question-and-answer engagements that enabled officers to gain hands-on experience with the system.

In another set of sessions, the Finance, Administration, Human Resources, and Technical departments underwent additional ERP system training aimed at deepening staff understanding and improving workflow integration across departments. The training focused on empowering staff with practical knowledge to strengthen efficiency, productivity, and professional growth.

Throughout the training period, participants demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm towards embracing digital transformation and modern technology solutions within the organization. TRANSWASCO management commended the collaboration between staff and facilitators, emphasizing that the ERP system will play a significant role in streamlining operations, improving accountability, enhancing revenue management, and supporting informed decision-making within the company.

TRANSWASCO expressed appreciation to Smart People Africa for their dedication, professionalism, and continued support in facilitating the training sessions. The company also acknowledged the commitment shown by members of staff in embracing technology as a key driver in improving operational performance and customer service delivery.

The ERP training program forms part of TRANSWASCO’s broader vision of strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing innovation, and ensuring efficient and reliable water and sanitation services for the people of Trans Nzoia County.
